 Public Address System

Description

The safety of people and facilities, integrated in Exploration Systems, is perceived as an essential requirement to fulfil. In this context, a Videosurveillance System, supported in the integrated management platform of other applications (Transmission, Public Information...), allows to offer a high added value service.

The videosurveillance solutions developed and installed by the ENT are designed to meet the desired needs, in terms of easiness of use, quality, availability, and features available.

Applications

ENT's videosurveillance solutions can be applied in different scenarios:

  • Locations that are prone to vandalism acts against people, buildings or equipment's;

  • Locations which require special security measures;

  • Locations with difficult access;

  • Isolated premises, far from main offices.

Examples:

  • highway, tunnels - traffic condition, occurrence of accidents, verification of atmospheric conditions, etc.;
  • Industrial installations (electric substations, water handling stations, etc.) - surveillance equipment (breakers, valves, etc.), remote visual monitoring of works, remote damage identification, etc.;
  • Places with great affluence of public (subways, railways, terminals, and stadiums) - monitoring of passengers, robberies or acts of vandalism prevention and intruders identification.

Funcionalities

The videosurveillance systems must allow:

  • Remote control of the equipment, from one, or several, CCTV Supervision Platforms;
  • Use and integration of diverse types of cameras and sensors, adjusted to each type of situation;
  • Simultaneous picture visualisation, allowing different selections, with response times adequate to each situation;
  • Picture quality according to the desired purpose;
  • Control and recording features;
  • Alarm gathering and processing;
  • Picture recording and printing, identified manual or automatically;
  • Interconnection with other systems - ex. public information systems - to act as dissuasion tool;
  • Integration with other management platforms, allowing the optimisation of material and human resources.

Technical Specifications

The ENT's videosurveillance solutions, which have registered great national and international success in recent years, can be divided in two groups:

a) Integrated solutions in existent transmission systems

Integrally digital solution, featuring all necessary hardware and software for the acquisition, transmission, visualisation, control and archive of images. The solution allows the control of cameras, with zoom, pan & tilt, making possible the visualisation of multiple pictures and its automatic recording. In this case, the system can be integrated with the telecommunications network management application.

ENT is migrating all of the software technology to IP, being compatible with any switching and transmission technologies such as PDH, SDH or ATM.

The main advantages of this solution are:

  • Optimisation of the available digital transmission infrastructure;

  • Utilisation of security methods used in the transmission network;

  • Easily expandable system.

b) Solutions supported in an autonomous transmission infrastructure

The same videosurveillance system, with the same features and applications, could be implemented using an independent infrastructure, solely dedicated to this system.

In this situation, the transmission of video and control signals, could be done analogue or digitally, using different supports - optic fibre, coaxial cable, radio, etc..

This solution is used where the videosurveillance system assumes a critical importance, presenting the following advantages:

  • Independence relatively to the remaining systems;

  • Excellent image quality;

  • Easily expandable system.
